Things We Love About Our All-New 2021 Nissan Rogue #7: It's Quick

The new Nissan Rogue is so quiet and refined. It lights up the night. The fuel economy is absurd. There are luxury features like a panoramic sunroof available at an affordable price point. The advancement of tech, including the Around View Monitor, is pervasive across the lineup.
We’ve covered all that in the past. Now it’s time to tell you the seventh thing we like about our all-new 2021 Nissan Rogue SV.
It’s quick.
Okay, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The Nissan Rogue is not a Nissan 370Z, let alone a Nissan GT-R. Those performance cars – a legitimately iconic sports car and a genuine supercar – are in another league. But after selling over 240,000 copies of the second-generation Nissan Nissan Rogue in seven years, the all-new Rogue dramatically upped the ante.
And it upped the ante without making a whole lot of headlines. Horsepower increased… marginally. Torque increased… modestly. The 2.5-liter direct injection engine in the new Rogue added 10 ponies and 6 lb-ft of torque. The upgrades sound trivial.
Yet paired with a revised transmission, this powerplant produced far better results on the road. On the standard 0-100 kmh test that is so often used as a reference point, the 2021 Rogue shaved 13% off the old Rogue’s time. (In Car And Driver’s testing, the new Rogue knocked its 0-60 mph time down to 8.2 seconds.)

Incidentally, Car And Driver’s independent testing doesn’t show that the new Rogue accelerates to highway speed much more quickly, it also sheds that speed more quickly. The old Rogue required 178 feet to decelerate from 113 kmh – the new Rogue stops in 169 feet. The new Rogue also produces 0.84 g of grip, up from 0.81 g in the old Rogue.
Perhaps most importantly, the 2021 Nissan Rogue’s additional acceleration ability goes hand-in-hand with improved fuel economy. That’s not just true in a laboratory environment, it’s true in the real world. Car And Driver’s fuel consumption decreased by 20%.
Get up to speed quicker. Decelerate more safely. Use less fuel while doing so.
That’s a hard combination to beat.
This is our best seller, and one of the most popular SUVs in Prince Edward Island. The second-gen Rogue that ran from 2014 to 2020 was a huge hit across Canada, and we knew that Islanders (especially current Rogue owners) were going to be anxious to get their hands on the very first copies of the new model.
And we did indeed let customers get their hands on the very first Rogues we received. But now we've done something a little different by taking delivery of our very own 2021 Nissan Rogue, a Rogue that we're going to put through its paces with a full winter test. We've heard great things about the Rogue, so we want to experience it for ourselves and share everything we learn with you.
It's an SV with all-wheel drive in Pearl White with the Graphite interior. That's the middle of three Rogue trim levels optioned to include the $2,300 multi-mode AWD system. The final tally is $36,128 including freight and pre-delivery inspection.
