Things We Love About Our All-New 2021 Nissan Rogue SV, #4: Dual Panel Panoramic Moonroof

We live on an island in the middle of the Gulf of St. Lawrence along the western shores of the North Atlantic.  By definition, winter is harsh, long, and dark.

Whether you notice our collective efforts or not, maximizing light is a major part of how we function. You see it in the size of a car dealership's gigantic windows, the timers that turn on our Christmas decorations at just the right moment, and the excitement we all share for the handful of minutes gained at suppertime each day through February and March.

When you think of a moonroof (or a sunroof, as most of us say), summer is top of mind. Maybe you're headed to Thunder Cove for the afternoon with the roof open to enjoy everything July and August can offer. Or you've just finished an early morning round at Crowbush and you open the roof for a perk-me-up on the drive into town.

Yet over the last decade or so, the sunroof we all knew and appreciated has grown much, much larger. Sunroofs remain common, but a panoramic sunroof is now a highly desirable option. Unfortunately, it's generally only an option on costly trim levels.

In the all-new 2021 Nissan Rogue, the dual panel panoramic moonroof is actually standard equipment on most Rogues: SV, SV Premium Package, and Platinum. Standard, not optional. Included, not an extra. And the joy of the panoramic setup isn't just found in a summertime fling – it's an all-season recipe for Vitamin D ingestion.

Of course, if you're hot, the power shade motors across the roof to block the sunshine out. But that's not usually an issue for most of the year in Prince Edward Island. Leaving that shade open, with or without the actual panel open to the elements, allows the Rogue to maximize light. It's bright and airy and spacious and very welcoming. Plus, it's so stinkin' affordable.

Take the Toyota RAV4 for example. Even on the most costly version of the 2021 RAV4, the panoramic sunroof costs... oh wait, the RAV4 doesn't even offer a panoramic roof. Neither does the Subaru Forester. On the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan, a panoramic sunroof doesn't appear until the United trim level at $36,995. On the 2020 Ford Escape, the panoramic vista roof is a $1,750 option on the Escape SEL, two trim levels up from the entry-level model. Like the Rogue, you can get a panoramic sunroof on the mid-grade version of the 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe, but unlike the Rogue, Hyundai makes it part of a $2,100 options package.

In our Rogue, and even in the $31,998 front-wheel-drive Rogue SV, a dual panel panoramic moonroof is standard equipment. And we love it.

This is our best seller, and one of the most popular SUVs in Prince Edward Island. The second-gen Rogue that ran from 2014 to 2020 was a huge hit across Canada, and we knew that Islanders (especially current Rogue owners) were going to be anxious to get their hands on the very first copies of the new model.

And we did indeed let customers get their hands on the very first Rogues we received. But now we've done something a little different by taking delivery of our very own 2021 Nissan Rogue, a Rogue that we're going to put through its paces with a full winter test. We've heard great things about the Rogue, so we want to experience it for ourselves and share everything we learn with you.

It's an SV with all-wheel drive in Pearl White with the Graphite interior. That's the middle of three Rogue trim levels optioned to include the $2,300 multi-mode AWD system. The final tally is $36,128 including freight and pre-delivery inspection.
